Curious about how therapy might help you?
I'm Charlotte Sharp a therapist who's been on the neurodivergent rollercoaster myself, living with ADHD and Dyslexia, and coming from a wonderful and challenging neurodivergent family. I specialise in helping fellow neurodivergents (both teens and adults) navigate the twists and turns of life, especially when trauma's been part of the journey. If you're looking for someone who truly gets it, you've found the right place!
Over the last 10 years, I have worked with lots of ND clients, children, teens and adults and this has led me to completing lots of training in this area to give the best support I can. I strongly believe that knowledge is power and am committed to sharing this by running courses, parenting groups and one-to-one parent support.
When I was trying to get my firstborn diagnosed I had no support, in fact he got diagnosed aged fourteen and I had been asking for it since he was three. The only reason he eventually got his diagnosis is because I did the research, found the support and tirelessly picked the brain of my poor SENCO that I worked with at the time. All that pushing for recognition only to then get the diagnosis and feel very alone with it afterwards. The Dr that diagnosed him asked me to write a book of my experiences and maybe one day when my son is comfortable with the idea, I will - but until then it's on hold.
Roll on 2020 and two of my children get a dyslexia diagnosis and then in 2022 they were diagnosed with ADHD. My own dyslexia diagnosis came in 2015 however it was the professional that diagnosed my daughter with ADHD that noticed we "are two peas in a pod" and wondered if I should get diagnosed too. This triggered me to realise I share many similar traits with my daughter, giving me the push to add myself to the waiting list for that diagnosis also.
I have recently taken a qualification in the tri-phase trauma approach as I have noticed a lot of clients that are diagnosed neurodivergent can have an underlying trauma. This model allows me to give you the best trauma therapy to redesign your beliefs while processing your trauma.
